Tell us about Ben Black Celebrant

For me a wedding is simple. Keep it light-hearted and have guests leaving saying “how good was that” as opposed to “thank god that’s over”. We’ve all been to that wedding.

What was the journey that brought you to what you do?

I was always the guy asked to MC friends’ weddings. This was just the next step.

What’s behind your success?

I’ll say, my wife. If she ever reads this it’ll score me some points.

What’s a mistake you’ve made that you’ll never make again?

This isn’t wedding related but I put a shovel through a water line in my backyard. 10 minutes later it was deadset like Niagara Falls. Never again.

What do you love about working in the wedding industry?

Simple answer. Helping couples on their biggest of days. It’s honestly a real thrill.

What are your predictions for the industry for the next few years?

More low-key weddings. Covid has shown that sometimes you don’t need 100 guests. Sometimes less is more.

What’s the one secret about your field or industry you wish everyone knew?

You’re not paying me for an hour’s work. Every wedding takes up between 6-8 hours at least.

What’s your main goal for the year ahead?

Get as many couples hitched and spend time with my baby boy. Also my wife. The real MVP.
